The car and the brand that (predictably) will be the best sellers in Spain in 2023

There are still days left until 2023 ends but, based on the data recorded to date, we can predict which car will become the best-selling car of the year in Spain. Much must change to prevent the Dacia Sandero from becoming the best seller. According to data prepared by Ideauto for the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), dealers (Faconauto) and sellers (Ganvam), in November, said model once again repeated as the passenger car with the most registrations (2,948 units), ahead of the Toyota Corolla ( 2,257 units) and the Chinese MG ZS (2,104 units).

If we look at the cumulative total of the first eleven months of 2023, the Sandero is also the leader in the ranking with a total of 25,662 units sold. In second place is the Seat Arona, with 20,212 units, while the Corolla is third, with 18,016 units.

With these figures it seems almost impossible that the model from the Martorell firm or the Japanese one could take first place. Thus, the Dacia model will be crowned best seller in 2023, just as it did three years ago. In the last two years it was second: in 2022, behind the Hyundai Tucson, and in the previous year, behind the Arona.

The virtues of the model belonging to the Renault group are numerous. It is a model lacking great luxuries, but without giving up the safety and some comfort elements that other cars offer. It is designed to be a simple, reliable and affordable product. In fact, the brand itself assures that for them the price is a starting point: “from design to sale, through manufacturing, we strive to optimize costs in each of the stages so that you pay only for what you need. ”. Thus, despite the increase in rates that new cars have experienced, the Sandero remains one of the cheapest options. Currently, it is available from around 13,000 euros.

This figure is slightly lower than that of another model that is bursting into our market. We are referring to the Chinese SUV MG ZS, which was the leader in registrations in Spain in August and September. In the accumulated from January to November, the sixth best-selling model, with 17,255 units, while it has closed the gap with the Toyota C-HR (17,555 units) and the Peugeot 2008 (17,897 units), which occupy fifth and fourth place, respectively.

As we have stated, the Sandero will almost certainly be the best-selling car in Spain in 2023. And what will be the leading brand? Everything indicates that it will repeat Toyota, which last year marked a milestone by becoming the best-selling in Spain for the first time in its history. In November, the Japanese firm was the one that registered the most registrations, with 6,786 units; followed by Kia, with 5,773 units; Hyundai (5,384 units), Volkswagen (5,369 units) and Dacia (4,786 units).

In the accumulated period between January and November, Toyota is also the leader in our country, with a total of 73,560 units. It is unlikely that the second-placed Kia (61,287 units) will be able to surpass it. The top five best-selling brands are filled with Volkswagen (58,421 units), Peugeot (54,887 units; 8.4%) and Seat (54,317 units).
