Speed race between a Tesla, a Ferrari and a Lamborghini: there is a clear loser

It is not the first time that we see a Tesla compete with the best supercars on the market. On this occasion, the Carwow car buying and selling platform has put it to the test. Specifically, he has chosen the most powerful version of the SUV Model X, the Plaid, to compete against a Ferrari SF90 Stradale and a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ in three speed races. Which of the three was the fastest and crossed the finish line first in these drag races? The answer is at the end of the following video.

As you can see in the images, the Tesla, equipped with a propulsion system that develops more than 1,000 hp, comes out first. Its acceleration is lightning-fast, the kind that leaves your back glued to the back of the seat. This is so because electric cars deliver torque instantly, just by pressing the accelerator pedal; instead, internal combustion cars need to reach the optimal revolutions to perform at their best.

In the first pass, Elon Musk's signature car prevailed unquestionably, but not in the second, in which it reached the finish line at the same time as the plug-in hybrid sports car of the Prancing Horse. In fact, the finish was so tight that it took a good look at the photo finish to determine which one had crossed the finish line first. It seems that the Italian did it by a few centimeters, who in the third -and last- round of the quarter mile -about 400 meters- clearly prevailed. The big loser was the Lamborghini, unable to beat its rivals in any of the races.

It is acceptable to point out that the Aventador SVJ, although equipped with a powerful V12 block, was the least powerful of the three. Its 770 CV and 720 Nm of torque were insufficient to beat the 986 CV of the SF90 Stradale or the 1,020 CV of the Model X Plaid. Although the Lamborghini offers spectacular performance, the performance of its rivals made it seem slow. Official data indicates that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h.

The role played by the electric SUV also deserves a special mention. It is true that it was the most powerful of all, but also the heaviest. On the scale, the Model X Plaid marks 2,539 kilos, that is, approximately one ton more than its rivals, which have been lightened to the maximum and have excellent aerodynamic work in order to offer the best driving experience.

Regarding the price of the three copies faced, there are also big differences. The cheapest is the Tesla, which in Spain costs from 143,900 euros, far from the almost half a million that other models can cost. Anyway, we are facing two types of cars with different philosophies. While one is electric and allows you to travel with the entire family, the remaining two are sports cars to enjoy driving as a couple.
