New Peugeot e-208: more autonomy, updated design and more technology

The 208, Peugeot's representative in the B segment of the market, has achieved remarkable commercial success since its launch at the end of 2019. In just over three years, almost one million units have been produced worldwide and during the years 2021 and 2022, it was the best-selling car in Europe.

One of the keys is the availability of the model in a 100% electric version, also being the best-selling model in this category in Europe in its segment. Future forecasts could not be more positive with the renewal that is now coming to the market, which includes an extension of electric autonomy up to 400 km, an updated design, cutting-edge technologies and new engines with light hybridization.

In the aesthetic section, the 208 debuts a new luminous signature, with three vertical luminous claws that are integrated into the glossy black inserts of the bumper. They've been moved to the outer edge and help give the 208 a more solid and visually wider stance. On GT versions, the effect of the three claws of the daytime running lights is extended to the illumination function of the Full LED headlights.

The new 208 exhibits greater elegance, with a new front end in which the new logo of the brand is in the center, the grille has a pattern in body color that blends into the bumper. The grille and the bodywork are no longer separate, but form a whole, increasing visual solidity, efficiency and modernity.

Another novelty focuses on the rear light signature, which consists of three juxtaposed red claws. The stripes are now horizontal, made up of three LED lines that extend to the black stripe that borders the tailgate. Thus, a perception of greater width is achieved and in the GT version, the reversing lights and turn signals are also LED.

The 208 releases new colors. Agueda Yellow stands out, the launch color and which is equipped as standard. Another novelty is Selenium Grey, more elegant and discreet, which joins the shades of Artense Grey, Perla Nera Black, Banquise White, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. The entire range features gloss black door mirrors and the GT version features gloss black wheel arches and, as an option, a black roof.

The French model also debuts new alloy wheel designs, in 16-inch (Noma two-tone diamond-cut wheels) or 17-inch (Yanaka two-tone diamond-cut wheels with accents). All have a four-spoke center stamped with the Peugeot logo.

The front, side and rear identification shields present a new typeface and a new Basalt Gray colour. At the rear, the Peugeot emblem runs across the full width of the tailgate and the E-208 receives a two-tone blue and white “E” badging.

The interior adopts new seat fabrics, such as Black Alcantara upholstery with Adamite green stitching, available on the GT version. The digital instrument panel of the Allure and GT versions has a new design for its 10-inch screen and, in the GT version, a 3D screen. The driver can customize the color, as well as the design and presentation of the information, according to his preferences.

The entire range has a 10-inch central touch screen as standard and the Allure and GT versions add the same HD technology. The steering wheel incorporates the new Peugeot emblem and the GT version incorporates the new logo at the bottom of its rim. These GT versions also feature some new ambient lighting colors.

The E-208, electric version of the model, advances in terms of electrification, thanks to its 156 CV electric motor which, combined with a 51 kWh battery, provides a range of 400 km. It has a 7.4 kW single-phase charger and, as an option, 11 kW three-phase.

The electrified offer is completed with two new 48v hybrid powertrains, entrusted to the 100 and 136 hp Puretech gasoline engine, combined with an e-DCS6 dual-clutch electrified gearbox that includes an electric motor. A battery recharges while driving to generate additional torque at low revs and reduce fuel consumption by 15%.

In terms of connectivity, the Peugeot i-Connect system is standard from the Allure finish and, as an option, you can opt for the i-Connect Advanced with the “OK PEUGEOT” voice recognition command. Allure and GT trims come standard with three USB-C sockets and one USB-A socket, joining a more powerful induction charger and new high-definition parking assistance cameras. Finally, the MyPeugoet smartphone app adds new functions to the E-208 version.
