Metacampus, the startup that trains for the digital age

Pere Pérez is an entrepreneur who has been advancing and evolving along with new technologies. “Since the late 1990s, he has worked in the digital ecosystem. I started by sending paper letters to companies to convince them that they needed a website”, he recalls. After selling his company Visyon, dedicated to virtual reality and augmented reality, to Mediapro, in 2019, Pérez saw the need to help society make the leap from web 2 to web 3. "The new era Digital, based on artificial intelligence and the blockchain (or chain of blocks), is more difficult to internalize and understand because it is more abstract”, he acknowledges.

Together with Alison Alexander and Edu Pou, with whom Pere Pérez shares "the passion for technology and the vision that it improves society", the entrepreneur founded Metacampus, at the beginning of 2022. "It is a continuing education program that prepares professionals for the new virtual economy”, explains the co-founder. Pérez affirms that “the current education systems are obsolete because passive education is not effective. Everything must be very practical. In addition, it is necessary to always be up to date because technologies change very quickly”.

With headquarters in Barcelona and a team of 15 people, Metacampus offers training programs in Spanish and English, and is aimed at "students from all over the world", in the words of Pérez. They combine continuous hands-on training, immersive experiences and live interactive expert sessions. They have 20 specialist teachers, plus occasional collaborators for specific topics. All this has been possible thanks to a round of investment of 1.5 million euros, to which a further million euros will now be added in a new round of financing in progress. The founders plan to end in 2023 with a turnover of 2 million euros.
