Hyundai is one of the manufacturers with the greatest capacity to renew its models. An important aspect to compete in the demanding European market. Also in Spanish. And within the complete range of SUV-type cars, the Hyundai Bayon occupies the access place. At 4.18 meters in length, it is the smallest and most accessible.
Regarding the Bayon, it is worth explaining that it belongs to the B-SUV segment, the second category of cars with the most sales in our market. Not in vain, in 2023 more than 200,000 units in this category were sold.
We are talking about an important part of the pie, with heavyweight representatives such as the Kia Stonic, Renault Captur or Seat Arona. Therefore, Hyundai updating its Bayon is logical in a brand that, as we say, shows certainly intense activity.
There are technological, equipment and aesthetic changes. Those that affect its appearance are important, with elements such as a front LED daytime running light bar that creates a light signature that the brand calls Seamless Horizon.
The front bumper and radiator grille have also been modified. And the 16 and 17-inch wheels are of a new design. For its part, at the rear the bumper has been retouched.
With a young clientele, the body color is always a decisive aspect in the purchase. That's why there are a total of nine body colors available, including four new ones: Lumen Gray Pearl, Meta Blue Pearl, Lucid Lime Metallic and Vibrant Blue Pearl. And, as an option, Hyundai offers a two-tone roof in Phantom black with various exterior shades.
Hyundai, thinking about its customers, offers cutting-edge connectivity technology. The digital cockpit and advanced infotainment functions have been improved thanks to the introduction of cloud-based navigation map updates.
Additionally, users can now benefit from a 4.2-inch LCD panel and a 10.25-inch navigation screen as standard. The new SUV continues to offer features that were already appreciated in the previous version, such as the 10.25-inch configurable digital cluster with different graphics, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and the latest Bluelink telematics update.
And two USB-C ports – one on the front and one on the back – make it easy to charge the latest tech devices simultaneously. The front USB-A port also allows occupants to connect their smartphone to the vehicle's infotainment system. Hyundai has also replaced the bulbs with LED technology to increase interior lighting and offer a multicolor environment to suit the driver.
In terms of safety, it is worth highlighting the semi-autonomous driving functions, such as the lane keeping assistant or the forward collision avoidance assistant (FCA). This device warns with an alarm and, if necessary, applies the brakes to prevent a collision from occurring. This technology includes the detection of cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
But the Korean brand goes further and includes several functions that draw the driver's attention when they lose concentration or detect drowsiness. This device works at the same time as the Vehicle Advance Alert (LVDA), which warns the driver when the car in front starts to move.
The Bayon now incorporates the second generation of eCall based on the 4G network, which automatically alerts emergency services if the vehicle's airbags are deployed in the event of an accident. Alternatively, occupants can also activate this function by pressing a button.
The new Bayon is sold in two versions. A 1.2 MPi gasoline option with 80 HP, which carries the C environmental label, and which marks the entry level at 23,455 euros. Above, Hyundai places another gasoline engine, the 1.0 T with 100 HP, but with 48-volt light hybridization, which allows it to display the ECO label. In this version, the starting price is 25,205 euros. The most complete is the Bayon Tecno with a 100 HP engine, light hybridization and seven-speed DCT automatic transmission (29,355 euros).
