Every time we get behind the wheel we must take responsibility for complying with traffic rules to avoid becoming a danger to other users. Although this is a fundamental premise, unfortunately, we very often witness irresponsible behavior that puts lives at risk and causes unnecessary accidents.
An example of reckless behavior is that of a young man who has been recorded driving his car without a steering wheel through the streets of Seville. The unusual images have been published by the SocialDrive account on its official X profile (formerly Twitter) and they show how the young man is driving a vehicle without the aforementioned component on a street in the Andalusian capital.
In the recording you can see how the driver drives the car with one hand placed on the steering wheel, directly moving the steering column as if it were the most normal thing. His companion, who remains seated in the passenger seat, holds in her hands the steering wheel that had previously been removed to commit this imprudence.
Both boast that they are carrying out a tremendous act of irresponsibility that, fortunately, did not cause any accident.
Although the images do not show the speed indicated by the speedometer, it gives the impression that the car is traveling even above the limit of 50 km/h, which is the maximum speed allowed on urban roads with two or more lanes in each direction. In the final moments of the recording you can see how the speed of the car that advances alongside other vehicles parked on the street increases considerably.
As with other infractions made known through social networks, such as the one carried out by a cyclist who caused an accident by overtaking a car in a continuous line, traffic authorities are analyzing the images to try to find the irresponsible driver. . In the case of the motorist who circulates without a steering wheel, there are two details that will undoubtedly help investigators find the identity of the offender.
On the one hand, everything seems to indicate that it is an Opel brand car and, on the other, the driver shows a tattoo on his left forearm that could be decisive in identifying him. The drawing shows the famous cartoon character Shin Chan created by manga creator Yoshito Usui.
In the event that the driver is identified by the traffic authorities, he could be reported for reckless driving. This infraction can constitute an administrative sanction (500 euros fine and the withdrawal of 6 points from the license) or even a criminal sanction. Criminal reckless driving is regulated in the Penal Code and is punishable by prison sentences of 6 months to 2 years and deprivation of the right to drive for a period of more than one month and up to 6 years.
In addition, the young man drives the car without wearing his seat belt. Beyond the penalty (200 euros and a deduction of 4 points), this infraction puts his life at risk, since in the event of an accident he could be thrown through the windshield and suffer very serious or even fatal injuries.
