"Words are no longer valid, there must be actions to continue at Honda"

The future of Marc Márquez will be decided this Monday (from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) in the Misano tests, in which Honda and the rest of the MotoGP teams will test the 2024 prototypes. This is what number 93 said when asked by Jorge Lorenzo in Dazn after finishing the San Marino GP race in seventh position, his best result this year: “Can you confirm that you will continue at Honda in 2024”?, the Spaniard asked him.

“We have a very important test to test the new bike, where we have to continue improving... It is clear from what Alberto (Puig) said yesterday that words are no longer valid, but only actions are valid. There have to be things to continue at Honda,” Marc, who has one year left on his contract with the Japanese firm, issued his clearest ultimatum to Honda.

“Facts are missing, not just tomorrow [in the tests]. The pdfs are no longer valid, the 'it will be done, it will be done'... No. It has to be done. A pilot can promise a lot, but without results he goes out. Well, a pilot, in a project, demands facts. The limit? That will be seen,” he commented on Dazn, asked what kind of “facts” he needs to continue at Honda.

In Montmeló, in the previous Catalunya GP, Márquez set his “real expectations” with the new bike he will ride this Monday: “From one day to the next you don't lose 1.5 seconds, but I hope to be closer [to those at the top] , among the top 10, to be more competitive,” he said when asked by this newspaper. Will being in the top 10 be enough for you to be convinced by Honda's 2024 project?

In an interview with Dazn, broadcast on Wednesday, Marc Márquez hinted at his possible continuity with Honda, by making explicit his "commitment" to the winged brand, with which he has raced in MotoGP since 2013, and with which he has been six times champion in the queen class (between 2013 and 2019).

"If I am trying so many things on the motorcycle it is because I continue to believe in the project and because I want to evolve in the project," he told Izaskun Ruiz in the interview on Dazn TV. "This is because I feel this commitment and I am trying things to give solutions to the engineers. In Barcelona the same, in Misano, in the test, I will test the new bike. Why? Because I feel this commitment and I am looking for the best solution for the project and try to make it grow".
