They announce rains that will alleviate the stubborn drought that is plaguing the territory of Catalonia for months, after an autumn and a winter that is particularly severe.
The meteorologists tell us that we will have a very rainy spring. If the forecasts are confirmed, it will be great news, which can be of great help to end the serious lack of water.
In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we see these photographs of the Baells reservoir (Berguedà), whose waters supply several neighborhoods in the city of Barcelona.
The purpose of this reservoir is to regulate the upper basin of the Llobregat river, supply water to the metropolitan area of Barcelona and produce hydroelectric power.
The dammed water level is very low. In a metric rule placed on a pillar at the tail of the reservoir we see that the level is practically at zero.
In another image we see the mark where the accumulated water reached, on a pillar of the highway, and which is now a small puddle in the mud.
In another photo we see the low water level through the mollusc-covered window of an old house. It is part of the town that has been submerged for many decades and has now been exposed with the drought.
In reality, ruins of old houses from some of the three towns that were submerged are visible: Miralles, la Baells and Sant Salvador de la Vedella.
