Where do asparagus grow in the Vallès?

Where do wild wild asparagus grow? Well, the truth is that in many places, at least in Spain, which concentrates 90% of the presence of Asparagus acutifolius in Europe.

In the Riera de les Arenes, as it passes through Terrassa, in the Vallès Occidental, they can already be seen, as these photographs show in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

Asparagus acutifolius are for spring. This is how this Spanish proverb makes it clear to us: "April asparagus for me, May for my master, June for none or for my donkey."

Wild asparagus (wild asparagus) is also known in the Mediterranean area as a hedge to delimit the plots, taking advantage of its spike-shaped leaves, while the "asparagus tips" serve as food.

The Riera de les Arenes rises on the southern slope of the Estenalles hill, below the Pico del Montcau, in the Sant Llorenç del Munt mountain range (in the municipality of Mura).

It passes through Matadepera (where it receives, from the right, the Font de la Riba torrent, at the height of the Pedritxes urbanization), Tarrasa and Les Fonts. Here it converges, also on the right, with the Palau stream, and becomes part of the Rubí stream, which ends in the Llobregat river.
