Vox threatens workers with closing À Punt: "You are a waste of money"

Vox threatens to close À Punt, the regional public television. A little over a month after the regional elections, the formation led by Santiago Abascal has made clear its intention to close the public entity, considering it "a waste of everyone's money and a separatist indoctrination machine."

He has done so in the institutional profile of his parliamentary group in Les Corts, criticizing one of the channel's content on April 25 and the battle of Almansa. Asked about the forcefulness of his proposal, sources from the formation have told La Vanguardia that at the moment they were not going to add anything else.

In the tweet, Vox points out that À Punt and its workers are "an insult to the Valencians" and concludes by saying "take advantage of what you have left in the convent, we are going to close you down".

The closure of the regional television stations has been one of the recurring promises that Vox has made in the different regional campaigns that have been held. However, it has not been fulfilled and both in Castilla-León and Andalusia, where they supported the first government of Moreno Bonilla, the two regional television stations have continued to broadcast. Neither has Telemadrid stopped broadcasting. It just so happens that the Vox candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat, Carlos Flores, has long been a regular participant in the news and debates on the channel.

Now Vox aspires to be decisive with its votes in the Valencian Community to achieve a change of government. Despite the fact that the PP candidate, Carlos Mazón, aspires to a solo government, no survey validates a scenario in which the popular do not depend on the extreme right, at least for the investiture. It will be necessary to see, if the right adds up, what red lines Vox puts to make Mazón president and if, the closure of À Punt is one of them.

After knowing the content of the tweet, the Unió de Periodistes has demanded immediate rectification due to the "direct threat to the À Punt colleagues". "It is intolerable, it threatens the independence of the media and democracy and shows a lack of respect for colleagues and for journalism," the majority union has indicated.
