Vicente del Bosque will supervise the Spanish Football Federation

Former coach Vicente del Bosque (73 years old) will be the president of the commission that will be in charge of normalizing, supervising and representing the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) until the next ordinary elections after the Olympic Games.

“You know that last week we created the Supervision, Normalization and Representation Commission of the RFEF, a guardianship body, supervision of the Spanish football federation. And that is why it is a pride for me to be able to announce to you that the person who will represent this commission will be Vicente del Bosque, who will be the face of Spanish football," revealed Pilar Alegría, Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports. after the Council of Ministers.

During his appearance, Alegría established the objectives that this Commission has and that Del Bosque must ensure: “Firstly, represent Spanish football; secondly, ensure transparency and good work in the next electoral period that the federation has to experience after the Olympic Games; and thirdly, successfully face the challenges that Spanish football has ahead of it, especially I am referring to the Euro Cup, the Olympic Games and the design of the next World Cup in 2030."

Del Bosque will have to try to weather a complex situation that has been aggravated by public discontent, illustrated by the letter sent to the CSD, UEFA and FIFA over the functions that this commission will have. Both organizations raised a series of questions that require answers from the CSD before Friday. “On what legal and/or factual basis was the Commission appointed? “What is the composition of the Commission and who appointed its members? “What is the exact mandate of the Commission? “What are the powers of the Commission? “What relationship does the Commission have with the statutory decision-making bodies of the RFEF?” These are the questions that require answers.

FIFA and UEFA expressed their concern about possible “undue influence on the RFEF” and warned that interference could have consequences. However, in the CSD they maintain calm and it is understood that the appointment of Vicente del Bosque is an important endorsement.

The president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, already responded with another letter. In it, he stated that "the irresponsible thing would be to sit idly by, do nothing, while the damage to the reputation, good name or image of Spanish football continues to grow" and recalled Pedro Rocha's status as "investigated."
