The feeling that time flies is common among those who suffer the side effects of stress, a disorder on the rise in our society that can lead to personal and professional collapse. “It started to be a problem to go to work on Monday because I was totally listless,” says economist and entrepreneur José Mendiola on the Bolsillo podcast, in which he shares the decisions that allowed him to get out of the hole.

Ana González, engineer and influencer, decided to make a 180-degree turn in her way of working and living after hitting rock bottom: "You actually have everything you were looking for in life: a good job, a good house, a family... and you realize that you're not happy; you don't feel as fulfilled as you think you should feel and well that's what made me realize that I needed to stop. The first decision she made was to "simplify" and adopt a series of habits that allowed her to be more productive.

José and Ana share their reflections in the book The Art of Living Slower, in which they explain their method to break the vicious circle of hoarding more possessions and wealth in exchange for time. “You enter a race to achieve more, which forces you to work harder to earn and spend more,” says Mendiola, “but there is a marginal income that is not worth it.”
