The search continues for the alleged perpetrator of the murder of an 84-year-old resident of Vilanova de la Barca (Segrià) last Friday.
He is wanted in France and that is why the Mossos d'Esquadra have requested the collaboration of the French Gendarmerie.
According to 'Segre' and 'Mañana', the victim was pruning fruit trees when the events occurred. It is suspected that she confronted the attacker when he was trying to steal her car and then brutally attacked him in the face with a pair of pruning shears.
His wife gave the alert when he did not return home at lunchtime and when the police and emergency services arrived at the farm the man was unconscious and nothing could be done to save his life.
After attacking the victim, the aggressor fled with the stolen car in the direction of La Seu d'Urgell. It seems that he missed a control near Ponts.
