The World Nature Photography Awards (WNPA) competition, which each year brings together an excellent collection of images, already has the winners for 2024. The intention of this annual photography competition, which has completed its fifth edition, is to honor the best photographers in nature of the world and at the same time show the beauty of the planet to the general public.

Thousands of photographers from all continents have joined this challenge who have competed to win the award in one of the 14 WNPA categories, including nature photojournalism, animal portraits, 'nature art ', landscapes or photographs that capture the behavior of different types of animals.

This year, the title of World Nature Photographer of the Year went to Tracey Lund for her image 'Underwater Gannets', for which she received $1,000. The photograph was taken in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, while Lund was traveling by boat during his vacation. With the camera submerged in water and protected by a casing, Lund was able to immortalize a moment of competition between two gannets (morus bassanus) for the capture of a fish. Lund explains that there were thousands of gannets on them that began diving into the sea in search of fish: a difficult sight to photograph, as Lund admits that he took 1,800 images that day, but only two were worth it.

On the World Nature Photography Awards website you can consult all the winning photographs of this fifth in the 'gold', 'silver' and 'bronze' positions of each category. In addition, for the first time in the history of the contest, an online store has been launched where you can buy printed versions of some of the winning photographs of this edition and other previous ones.
