In the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see an unusual image of the iconic Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs with a large smoke around them, due to a fire that occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Badalona Sud industrial estate. .
The fire burned scrap metal and machinery outside a warehouse on Progrés Street. The notice of the fire was received at 6:35 p.m. at the Ferimet Badalona company - a scrapyard - and there were no injuries. Up to 10 Firefighters were sent to the area.
The flames caused a large column of highly visible black smoke, which spread, pushed by the wind, to neighboring towns such as Sant Adrià de Besòs and also to neighborhoods in Barcelona. The scene gave images like the one we see with the Three Chimneys.
The emergency telephone number 112 received up to 118 calls warning of the fire and Civil Protection activated the Procicat pre-alert.
"The smoke and the strong smell of burning in our city is the result of a fire in an industrial warehouse located in the neighboring city of Badalona," commented the mayor of Sant Adrià de Besòs, Filo Cañete, in a message on X.
