The signature of jewelery designed by the clients themselves

Blanca López studied business management and administration and was also trained in jewelry. Her passion for the latter world led her to live in London, where she specialized in Gemology at the American Gemological Institute. Upon returning to Barcelona, her hometown, she explains that she could not find job offers that were to her liking until she, encouraged by her family, decided to create her own jewelry brand.

In March it will be ten years since López decided to create Blanca Jewels (Blanca Barcelona until a year ago). The entrepreneur acknowledges that it has not been easy. "It has cost me a lot. I have done it all by myself, with the only help from my family, and having to compete with big firms”, says the founder.

The differential feature of Blanca Jewels is that the jewels are designed by the clients themselves. “We have a showroom in Barcelona and at the end of 2022 we opened a store in Madrid. From these establishments we serve buyers by appointment, who tell us what idea of jewelery they have in mind, and we make it a reality”, explains the founder. These jewels are produced by hand in local workshops and baptized with the name of the person destined to wear them.

Once created, these unique designs are made available to other potential clients through the firm's website with the aim of "democratizing personalized jewelry," says López. Production is always to order, and the materials used are 18-carat gold, platinum, natural stones, and certified diamonds. Online sales account for 49% of the company's turnover, which last year was more than half a million euros. The remaining 51% are sales in physical stores.

With a team of five people, Blanca Jewels is immersed in a marketing campaign to publicize the brand and face the "increasing competition", in the words of the entrepreneur. The company's other great current bet is the recently opened store in Madrid, with which the founder plans to expand her firm.
