The PP will vote against the energy decree if it does not withdraw "the frivolous measures"

If the Government requires alternative measures from the PP, there they are: Extend the life of the five nuclear power plants that Spain has in operation, with seven reactors, and opt for biogas and green hydrogen. That is the condition of the PP to support the energy saving decree law that Congress must validate this week.

That and that the Government withdraw from the decree the "frivolous measures" that in his opinion that decree contains, in the words of the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo. The PP got underway today after the summer holidays, thinking about the municipal and regional elections next May and wanting to overcome the controversies of this summer, which are not the best for their aspirations, and which they attribute to a government campaign to discredit the popular president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

To recharge batteries and not err on the course, Feijóo has brought forward the return of the holidays, which will officially end on Saturday, when he celebrates the start of the political year in Cotobade (Pontevedra). After the meeting, the PP made public the meaning of its vote, which until now the popular leaders had hinted at but not specified. "If these frivolous measures are withdrawn and measures are taken to guarantee employment in the industrial sector, in crisis due to the rise in energy, and measures are taken to protect road transport, we will vote in favor," he said.

If not, the vote will be negative, quite the opposite of what will happen with the self-employed decree, which the PP will vote in favor of, because it includes the demands of the self-employed, with whom the PP has met on several occasions.

But the energy saving decree, the PP gives great importance, given the consequences it has for the Spanish. For this reason, he recalls that other countries are already preparing their nuclear power plants or are going to extend their lives. He specifically cited the United Kingdom, Holland, Belgium, Germany, the United States, China and even Russia, in order to guarantee supply for the next 30 years.

However, the PP is not optimistic about the possibility that its demands will be heard by the Government, because the Government, obsessed with losing the elections and the Government "has dedicated all the new ministers to insulting Feijóo", to the point that Bendodo is convinced that Pedro Sánchez "will create his 23rd ministry", dedicated exclusively to "attacking Feijóo".

"You cannot fight the energy crisis with populism and sectarianism," said Bendodo, which is what the government does "which has spent the whole summer opposing the party that is the alternative" and behaves, he said, " as if his enemy were the PP, when his enemy is the economic crisis, the energy crisis, inflation, drought and fires”.

The Government sees the PP as such an enemy that the general coordinator is convinced that there will be no agreement, despite the proposals that Núñez Feijóo has sent to the Prime Minister and the five state pacts that he has proposed, because “the Government he cannot reach agreements with the PP, because his partners do not let him“.

Faced with this situation, Feijóo has given orders to his people to continue worrying about the real problems of the people and not fall for the Government's provocations. He will continue to build his alternative, which includes meetings with the leaders of the other parties. Bendodo confirmed that Feijóo intends to meet with the president of the PNV, a party with which he maintains a very good relationship, and that he would participate in a round of meetings with all the groups.

Bendodo also referred to the pardon for José Antonio Griñán that his family has requested from the Government. The general coordinator of the PP stressed that "for the PSOE to pardon the PSOE would be difficult to understand and explain
