The Valencia City Council, which governs the PP alone and in a minority, will hang, on the occasion of Gay Pride Day and "as planned", the flag of the LGTBI collective on the municipal façade. This action acquires special relevance after finding out about some municipal agreements with Vox and the PP, such as the one in Nàquera, which expressly prohibited "placing LGTBI flags on balconies and facades of municipal facilities", a widespread practice to commemorate days of protest by this group. On Saturday, Valencia celebrates Pride Day with a large demonstration.

With the decision to place the flag, which joins her firm commitment not to negotiate her investiture with Vox, the new mayoress of Valencia, María José Catalá, marks a very clear profile in a context where many of her party colleagues have had to give in to the demands of the extreme right to win the leadership or ensure stable governments. As La Vanguardia explained the other day, Catalá will not have it easy but she will seek specific agreements on both sides of the ideological spectrum.

Precisely, the day of Catalá's inauguration there was already a first scuffle between the outgoing mayor, Joan Ribó, and the PP. The mayor of Compromís accused the new tenants of the Mayor's Office of removing a banner demanding this group, something that hours later he had to rectify.

Catalá's gesture is not the only one. This Friday, Les Corts have already placed the LGTBI flag on the façade of the Palau dels Borja, as usual, to commemorate Pride. However, this act acquires greater symbolism three days after the plenary session of the constitution of the XI Legislature will be held next Monday, where the Presidency of Parliament will fall into the hands of Vox, a party that already expressed its protest against the placement of this flag.

Parliament sources explained that the multicolored flag will be maintained throughout the weekend and that it has been hung following the instructions of the Presidency of the chamber and in compliance with the institutional agreements in force since the IX Legislature.
