The port of Valencia, the first stone on the path of the future PSOE and Sumar government

One day after PSOE and Sumar presented their agreement for "a new progressive government coalition for Spain," the Valencian PP has managed to bring to light the contradictions between both formations. As this newspaper explained, the document does not include anything about the expansion of the port of Valencia, an issue that was always controversial among the Botànic partners for eight years. Yesterday, the PP took the issue to Les Corts trying to delve into the differences between the two left-wing parties and they succeeded. The expansion of the port becomes a first Valencian stone on the path of the future coalition government.

The ombudsman of the popular group, Miguel Barrachina, called on the parties to urge the Government of Spain to "urgently proceed with the Council of Ministers to authorize the tender for the works of the container construction project for the northern expansion of the port". A Non-Law Proposition that in today's session Vox will support and Compromís will vote against. The PSPV did not want to reveal the meaning of its vote yesterday because although it defended that it is in favor of the enlargement, its amendment made a whole series of qualifications to the proposal of the popular ones that they did not accept.

Barrachina's strategy was very evident and the objective, as he highlighted during his intervention, was none other than to highlight that on fundamental issues for the Valencian Community, the two parties that are called to govern Spain in coalition, do not they agree. Furthermore, following the story that the PP has been expressing for weeks, the popular spokesperson once again raised the specter of a hidden pact to favor the port of Barcelona and harm Valencian interests.

"Here in Les Corts in the most important national competition investment of the decade, the PSPV ask that it proceed slowly and the partners ask for the demolition", pointed out the PP parliamentarian.

The deputy spokesperson for the PSPV, María José Salvador, criticized the PP for "using the port of Valencia as a battering ram against the Government of Spain" and regretted that "its proposal is not in defense of the port, it is against the progressive Government." Salvador wanted to emphasize that the commitment of Pedro Sánchez's Executive to the expansion of the port is "unquestionable" and "undoubted." The socialist leader reiterated that the ports of Barcelona and Valencia are complementary.

The one who made his opposition to the expansion very clear was Compromís. Deputy Paula Espinosa criticized the PP for "taking out the ghost of the Catalan invasion with very little style", in addition to justifying its differences with the PSOE because they are not "an indissoluble unit like that of PP and Vox against climate change." . Barrachina reproached him for Compromís following ERC orders.

However, the PP made it clear that, after selling a government agreement, the two partners do not agree on an infrastructure that the popular people want to make one of the priority axes of their demands.
