The new cleaning company in Les Corts will assume the delays with the workers

The cleaning workers of Les Corts Valencianes left the meeting they held with the members of the Parliament Board yesterday relatively hopeful. As explained by both the employees - to whom the contractor owes more than four months of salary - and sources from the Les Corts Presidency, the meeting left with the commitment that the new company that obtains the Hemicycle cleaning contract will maintain to the current workforce and will pay payroll arrears.

As this newspaper explained yesterday, there are a total of 15 employees to whom the contractor -Grupo Scorpio SL- owes close to 5,000 euros. A situation that has led to a third of the workforce suffering from depression and anxiety. In fact, explained María Martínez, one of those affected by non-payment of payroll since last September, some of her colleagues go to Cáritas to eat due to lack of resources.

And this, while, as those casualties due to depression are not covered, garbage begins to accumulate at the headquarters of the Valencian Parliament; and the session has not yet resumed.

Martínez said after the meeting that, in response to her insistent questions, the president of Les Corts, Llanos Massó, promised that the new contractor would assume the payment of the delays. At the meeting, held in one of the committee rooms of the regional parliament, in addition to the president of Les Corts, from Vox, there were the first vice president, Alfredo Castelló (of the PP) and the second vice president, Gabriela Bravo (of the PSPV). The second secretary, María Josep Amigó (from Compromís), could not attend because she was ill, a sign that the four parties now take the problem seriously. Lawyers from the Chamber were also present to report on the legal difficulties that have occurred throughout the process.

Sources from the Presidency of Parliament explained that they are waiting for the contractor company's debt to Social Security to be known in 48 hours. Once the figure is known, the emergency contract that was left void at the end of December can be accelerated since the amount owed was not known and no company wanted to bid. In this way, the same sources point out, next week the labor conflict could be definitively resolved.

In case this formula fails again, the workers explained to La Vanguardia, Parliament has prepared a 'plan b' whose content, however, was not communicated to those affected yesterday. "It only became clear that Les Corts cannot hire us directly," explained María Martínez.

This worker who has led the way for her colleagues took advantage of yesterday's meeting to insult the politicians that something is wrong in the system when they, the weakest link in the chain, are the ones who pay the price for the malpractice of a company. company.
