The magnet for insects in Roses

I share in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia a photograph taken in Roses one spring afternoon while I was walking around the town.

In the snapshot we can appreciate a colorful image that corresponds to a small field where wild flowers grow annually, mostly poppies.

At this time of year they show all their splendor and fill the landscape after winter with joy and beauty. To the red of these flowers is added the lilac of borage and some reeds in the background.

The poppy, considered a weed by farmers, is nevertheless very photogenic. Also ephemeral, its flower will last just three weeks. Meanwhile, it will fulfill an important pollinating function, since they are a magnet for insects.

The clouds that dot the sky in the late afternoon turn pink as the sun goes down, but the fields are still not irrigated. The drought persists.
