The long agony of the Fluvià river

The Fluvià river, as it passes through the Garrotxa region, could be seen dry today and the ponds that remain are now all green with stagnant water, as can be seen in The Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia.

The Fluvià River rises in the mountains of Collsacabra, and flows into the Mediterranean, in the marshes of Empordà, near Sant Pere Pescador, after traveling 70 km through the Catalan regions of Garrotxa and Alt Empordà.

The mouth of the river Fluvià or Gola del Fluvià is changing its landscape due to sea storms and river floods.

This year the Fluvià is suffering in the context of drought that has been persistently recorded in Catalonia. The low water flow it has is a reflection of the lack of rain.

It was already noticed, for example, in April, especially in the streams and rivers that flow into the Fluvià and which, in some cases, were completely dry.
