The large Valencian towns where the left has added in the face of 28M

The parties to the left of the PSPV throw the tackle to the head. Although Joan Baldoví does not want to enter into confrontation with Héctor Illueca, the criticism of the Podem candidate - who aspires to stay with that dual vote that trusts the purple in the general elections but in the regional elections goes with Compromís - does not cease. Illueca accuses him of not having wanted unity. The irruption of Sumar has done nothing more than contaminate this relationship and, less than three weeks before the start of the campaign, not knowing who Yolanda Díaz will opt for adds more tension to the political space.

In the midst of this toxic environment, there are a number of towns where there are unity candidacies from the parties that are to the left of the PSPV. There are at least a dozen agreements in important municipalities in which Compromís, Podem and Esquerra Unida will go together to the next local elections of 28M. That day, the supporter will be able to choose the ballot for his mayor and, when he goes to the ballot box for the regional elections, he will have to choose between Compromís and Unides Podem.

These are not minor deals. In fact, there is an agreement in 6 of the 20 most populated cities in the Valencian Community. And it is that Compromís, Podem and EU will go hand in hand in Torrent (85,000 residents), Orihuela (80,000), Gandia (75,000), Elda (52,000) and Santa Pola (36,000). In addition, there is agreement between the Valencianistas and purples (without the EU) in Mislata (44,000) and Picassent, an important town in l'Horta Sud that no longer falls within the classification of cities with the greatest demographic weight.

The three formations also have agreements for 28M in La Nucia, Onil, San Antonio de Benagéber, Massanassa, Vilamarxant or Gilet. Added to the other towns where there are agreements between Compromís and the EU (without Podem) - Biar, Petrer, Crevillent, La Pobla Llarga and L'Eliana - the number of residents who can vote for a unity candidacy exceeds half a million.

In the municipal field, the agreements are often outside the disputes at the regional level and depend, to a large extent, on the relationship between the different collectives or local assemblies, their strength or weakness, and the expectations and electoral situation in each municipality.

Thus, although the reasons for the agreement are varied, it is striking that the great three-party consensus has been reached in places where the PSPV governs with strong electoral support. This is the case of Mislata (62% of the votes), Picassent (55%), Petrer (50%), L'Eliana (42%), Elda (40%), Torrent (40%) or Gandia (35%). , all of them with a socialist mayor or mayoress. There is also a mayoress of the PSPV after a motion of no confidence in Orihuela.

However, there are also other reasons to seek the pact, such as the desire to maintain the command rod in Crevillent, the most important Mayor's Office in the south governed by Compromís.

It escapes no one that the fact that regional and municipal elections coincide again this year gives greater importance, if possible, to the latter, which can have a drag effect. For this reason, it is no coincidence that Podem and the EU -apart from their agreements with Compromís- have wanted to repeat the formula of Unides Podem with which the elections for the Presidency of the Generalitat will be presented in the majority of possible municipalities, starting with the three province capitals and including the city of Elx, the third most populated in the Valencian Community.

Despite the fact that the vast majority of surveys give it above the 5% bar that marks who obtains representation in Les Corts Valencianes, Unides Podem needs to add all its potential voters to avoid having problems on the night of the recount.
