The judge acquits Angela Dobrowolski of violating her sentence for sending an email to Mainat

The judge of the Criminal Court 6 of Barcelona has acquitted Ángela Dobrowolski, the ex-wife of Josep Maria Mainat, of the crime of breaking a sentence for sending her an email. The ruling explains that on October 25, 2020, Dobrowolski was prohibited from communicating "by any means" and from approaching within 1,000 meters of the television producer.

On March 12, 2022, at 4:32 p.m., Mainat received an email with "personal and humiliating" content regarding the romantic relationship with the accused, sent from an email address that the accused recognized as her own.

The judge assures that, although the Prosecutor's Office requested one year in prison for violating a sentence, "the commission of said criminal offense has not been considered proven."

"In the plenary session, there has not been sufficient evidence to refute the presumption of innocence of the accused with regard to the commission of said crime," he adds, and assures that the investigation has been insufficient.

The trial was held on March 19, and Dobrowolski assured the judge that it was a friend of hers who sent the email that allegedly violated the sentence to her ex-husband, since she knew that she had a restraining order against him.

Dobrowolski explained that, during that time, her friend, her ex-partner and she lived in the same house, and that, when Mainat reported having received that email, the friend confessed that she had written it: "They seemed like the right words for me." ex-husband. I didn't have the courage to tell him."

When asked how her friend accessed her email account, Dobrowolski argued that she had "a lot of trust with her," and that even when the defendant spent time in prison, this friend managed her income.

He also stated that he spoke with Mainat in Catalan, that the email was written in Spanish, and that it was not even sent from his usual account, "but a secondary one."

For her part, Mainat testified as a witness and, during her intervention, explained: "In the email she talks about some events that had happened between us and it seemed that she was the one who sent it."

Although he also said that he used to communicate in Catalan with his ex-partner, that previous letters, such as one from prison, he wrote in Catalan and that this made him "doubt" when he received the email in Spanish.
