The influence of the smoking Ter

* The author is part of the community of readers of La Vanguardia

I have photographed for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos the moment when the pair of ducks sail through the mists of the steaming water of the Ter River, due to the contrast in temperatures, on a cold autumn dawn, in Les Masies de Voltregà.

A bucolic landscape in an area of great ecological value, the meanders of the Ter River that we find in this area, such as the Meandre del Despujol.

This is a river space where natural elements (riverside trees, waterfowl, fish...) coexist with human activity, especially agricultural and forestry, which has been carried out since ancient times. And the lands near the river are very fertile.

This stretch of the River Ter has quite a few locks and many were used for the abundant textile factories that have now disappeared.

Arctic smoke is produced by the difference in temperature of the water and the air mass. It occurs when rivers, lakes, reservoirs or even the sea are at a much milder temperature than the air at certain times of the day, especially at dawn.
