The Government opens the period for young people to request discounts of up to 90% to travel in summer

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda has opened the period for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to request discounts of up to 90% on train and bus tickets to travel next summer, both in Spain and abroad. Europe.

In a statement, the ministry announced this Thursday the launch of a specific website to register and access these discounts, which may be requested when the transport companies "finalize the necessary technological changes."

To benefit from the reductions in the price of tickets, young people born between 1993 and 2005 must fill out a form that will allow the ministry to verify that all the requirements are met.

This registration must be made at least 24 hours before purchasing the first ticket, for which young people must use a personal and non-transferable code that the ministry will provide.

As explained by the ministry, the improper use of discounted tickets may lead to the suspension of the registration number and, therefore, the ability to continue benefiting from the measure.

The discounts approved a few weeks ago by the Government include a 50% discount for the Interrail pass, which in the case of trips within Spain amounts to 90% of the price of train tickets for medium and long journeys. distance and also to travel on the buses that depend on the State.

Likewise, Avant trains will have a 50% discount and also high-speed services, although the latter with a limit of 30 euros.

Government estimates suggest that the discounts affect 12.5 million trips made by young people in Spain during the summer, as well as doubling the sale of Interrail passes.

The Government's plan also includes financing discounts on medium-distance rail services that are the responsibility of the Generalitat de Catalunya, as the community itself has already requested.

To implement this aid, the Government has approved an endowment of 170 million euros, distributed as follows: 70 million for high-speed and long-distance services, 60 million for bus lines, 30 million for trains Avant and medium distance and 10 million to finance the Interrail discount.
