The Generalitat has asserted its majority this morning in Fira 2000 and has imposed the replacement of the general director Joaquim Ferrer by David Poudevida. The rest of the institutions that participate in the society, including the city councils of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, have voted against.
As La Vanguardia has advanced, the announcement of the replacement had triggered notable discomfort in the other institutions, due to the forms - the intention was communicated just a few days ago during the celebration of the ISE audiovisual contest - as well as the change itself given the good evaluation that Ferrer's management brings together after the start of the works for the expansion of the Gran Via site. These are works that involve an investment of about 350 million.
The council met first thing in the morning and as soon as it started, Núria Marín, the mayoress of l'Hospitalet and president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, has asked the president of the company, Josep Maria Villarúbia (general secretary of the Department of Economy ) to withdraw from the agenda the replacement of the CEO. He has not succeeded and in the end the majority of the Generalitat has prevailed, which controls more than 50% of society.

David Poudevida is considered a person close to the president of ERC, Oriol Junqueras. His last position was that of Government delegate in Argentina and he had previously been director of marketing for Bon Preu.
Fira 2000 is a public limited company with the capacity to borrow and whose function is to carry out the expansion and improvement works of the space used by the Fira for its halls.
