The Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, has assured that Catalonia could promote a candidacy for the Winter Olympic Games with other countries and in this sense has assured that the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) has already had conversations with "other territories".
In an interview granted to Els matins de TV3 this Friday, Vilagrà has asked for "speed" to close a candidacy, recalling that if there is no agreement with Aragon, they could reach an agreement with states such as France, Italy or Bosnia-Herzegovina to do those disciplines that Catalonia cannot take on because it does not have the adequate infrastructure. "Andorra is a possibility, but it is the COE that directs the negotiation," the Minister assured in a statement collected by ACN, noting that they are still working on the talks with Aragon.
These statements by Vilagrà link to the information released yesterday by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Generalitat on the collaboration with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In this sense, the Generalitat will meet next week with the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco. Vilagrà has not specified which day.
On the other hand, Vilagrà has opened the door to expand the consultation on the candidacy of the Olympic Games in other territories: "The directly affected counties will vote". The Government hopes to know "before the summer" what the "concrete proposal" for the candidacy will be.
