The dismantling of the toll areas on the Maresme highway begins

The Department of Territory has begun works to complete the dismantling of the old toll areas of the C-32 north (in Maresme) and the C-33 (in Vallès Oriental), which have a budget of five million of euros. The tasks provide continuity to the action that was already carried out in the central lanes following the completion of the concessions for these highways. The works will have a completion period of five months.

The works, which have begun in the area of the old Santa Susanna toll, consist mainly of the dismantling of the canopies and other elements of the remaining toll areas on the C-32 north and C-33, both on the trunk as on the sides, and the restitution of the necessary roads, in both directions of circulation. Specifically, the areas included are: Side of the Alella toll; Side of the Premià tollbooth; Vilassar toll trunk; Side of the Sant Andreu de Llavaneres toll area; Side of the San Vicente de Montalt toll area; Trunk of the Arenys de Mar area

Side of the Arenys tollbooth; Trunk of the Santa Susana toll area; Trunk of the Mollet del Vallès toll area.

The action includes the demolition of all the blocks that make up the toll crossings or roads, as well as the security barriers, toll booths and existing equipment and facilities. Likewise, the new roads that have been planned will be adapted and paved, drainage elements will be adapted and signage, beacons and safety barriers will be installed.

The landscape adaptation of the liberated areas and the implementation of new uses on the old trunk toll beaches are the subject of specific projects.

In this sense, the works to implement a solar park in the freed-up space at the old Santa Susanna toll are in the awarding phase, with a tender amount of three million euros. The work, within the Self-generation and Energy Sovereignty Program on the Generalitat's road network, will begin at the beginning of this summer and will last six months.

The mayor of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier, has taken advantage of the councilor's visit to ask that his municipality be able to benefit from the solar energy park that will be installed in its municipal area. Campolier explained that it would be an act of justice towards the population, which has made sustainability, innovation and green energy the axis of municipal policy.

In total, the project includes the installation of 3,312 photovoltaic solar modules, which will generate 2.9 GW/h annually, 11% of what was consumed in 2023 on the roads of the Generalitat. The works will cover the actions necessary to execute the panels, electrical connections and put the solar park into operation, which will occupy an area of about 2.3 hectares.

At the same time, the Department is drafting the construction projects to install solar farms in the spaces of the old tolls of Vilassar de Dalt, Arenys de Mar and Mollet del Vallès. Likewise, the project to install solar panels for self-consumption around the Santa Susanna and Sant Pol tunnels is being drafted.

The Government is working on the decarbonization of mobility from different areas to address the climate emergency. One of the areas included is efficiency, self-generation and energy sovereignty, which refers to the optimization of energy consumption in the buildings and facilities of the Department of Territory and road facilities, as well as production. of renewable energy in public domain spaces of the Generalitat.

In the road network, Territori is carrying out a set of actions that take advantage of the potential offered by the public domain of roads to install photovoltaic panels, generating green energy. These plates make it possible to generate the 25.9 GW/h per year that the entire road network of the Generalitat, approximately 6,000 kilometers long, required during 2023.
