In La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we can see this image of the cormorant's procession in front of the church of the Mare de Déu de les Neus in El Port de la Selva, in Alt Empordà.
The photograph places us on the north coast of Cap de Creus, on the Costa Brava. The church of the Mare de Déu de les Neus is a construction from the first half of the 20th century. It is located in the center of the historic center of the town.
In the foreground we see cormorants, one of which has its wings open. And this bird, when it comes out of the water, spreads its wings to dry itself, since, unlike most aquatic birds, its wings are not completely waterproof.
The cormorant captures fish by propelling itself with its legs and diving for more than a minute in the water, reaching a depth of 10 meters.
It is still symbolic that the cormorant can be seen in this town with a fishing tradition. In fact, in some parts of the world the cormorant is even used for fishing.
