The Badalona City Council appeals to the TSJC the sentence that prevents the demolition of the Mobba

The City Council of Badalona (Barcelonès Nord) has filed an appeal in the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) against the ruling that prevents the demolition of the old Mobba factory. The municipal government understands that there is a part of the building that could go to the ground to make a square and believes that in the current legal context this would not be possible.

A year ago, the contentious administrative court number 14 of Barcelona stopped the then government of the PP, which intended to overthrow the Mobba in its entirety. The judge used a report from the Generalitat that warned of the interest and architectural qualities of the building, which could even be declared a Cultural Asset of Local Interest (BCIL).

The current government (PSC, ERC, Comunes and Junts) has no intention of demolishing the entire building, but does not share the fact that Mobba could be a BCIL and does not believe it is necessary to preserve the factory in its entirety, according to municipal sources. In fact, at the beginning of the conflict, the Badalona Heritage Commission already rejected the option of protecting the building.

For its part, the Mobba Working Group (GTM), which shares part of the objectives with the current government - to overthrow the part of the Mobba that has no architectural interest and maintain the old factory to give it a new life - reproaches the consistory that has not wanted to reach an out-of-court settlement and now summons them to keep the dispute in court

In this sense, the GTM responded to the appeal of the City Council before the TSJC and demands that the sentence of the contentious administrative court be complied with.
