The autumn of the Auro del Remei

Spectacular autumn atmosphere in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remei de Camprodon, in the region of Ripollès, where we find the Auró del Remei, an 18-metre-tall country maple.

In front of the Remei the Auró Tombat also grows with seven branches that grow at 1.3 meters following the axis of the trunk from the margin and that rise vertically.

The Auró, portrayed in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia, has seen how faithful pilgrims from the Camprodon valley and surrounding areas came to give thanks and ask favors at the Verge del Remei.

He also witnessed, at the end of the Spanish civil war, how there was an exodus of refugees who had to pass through the Remei de Creixenturri valley to escape to France, since the main road was soon blocked.

Creixenturri is a village in the municipality of Camprodon, to the left of the river Ter. The first mention of the place is from the year 904 and of the old parish of Sant Cristòfol, from 930. A castle was also erected in this place, documented since the 13th century and destroyed in 1554.

The Romanesque image of the Mare de Déu del Fort, which was venerated in the castle chapel, was transferred in 1557 to the parish, which became, in the 18th century, the Remei sanctuary, registered in the Heritage Inventory Architectural of Catalonia. In the past, there was a large influx of sick people and penitents for the cures at the Verge del Forat.
