In 1923 the first amateur film cameras were marketed. And this centenary anniversary has not gone unnoticed at the Girona Cinema Museum.

Continuing with this story from 100 years ago. Pathé Baby in Europe, with the 9.5 mm film format, and Kodak in North America, with the 16 mm film format, made it possible for the general public to shoot and project their own films.

Thus amateur cinema was born that "would give us many illustrious names and a large number of works of great artistic, documentary and today also heritage interest." And with this reference, the Cinema Museum has designed a program of short films to highlight the amateur cinema of the regions of Girona.

Numerous films have been filmed in Girona and some of the biggest names in non-professional cinema are from Girona. With the intention of reclaiming them, seven films directed by authors from these regions or filmed in this region have been selected and presented yesterday to the public and the invited filmmakers.
