The Parliament of Navarra experienced moments of real tension when a group of farmers tried to gain access to the interior of the building by force. Agents of the Foral Police have been forced to act, using batons and, especially, forcibly closing the main door that gives access to Parliament.

This police force has identified 12 people for this attempted assault on the Chamber. According to what they have reported, proceedings will be opened against them for disorders, although it is still unknown if they will be criminal or administrative.

The events occurred during the concentration that the farmers had called in front of the Navarrese Legislature since early in the morning, coinciding with the plenary session in which the Budgets were debated, as well as two amendments related to the situation of farmers. .

A group of farmers has tried to access the interior of the Parliament of Navarra by force, but agents of the Foral Police, after a few minutes of tension, have managed to prevent it.

After those moments of tension, the farmers have continued to concentrate in front of Parliament, while riot police from the Foral Police protected the entrance to the Chamber and riot police from the National Police wait nearby.

Likewise, this morning farmers from Gipuzkoa, Navarra and the French Basque Country have blocked the border in Irun with their tractors, at the AP-8 tollbooth towards France, to make their demands visible.

More than 200 farmers and ranchers on both sides of the border have blocked the highway, causing kilometer-long delays.

Both the Basque Government and the Irun City Council have deployed a special device in response to the retentions that were expected due to these mobilizations. The Traffic Directorate of the Basque Government recommends not driving on the A-8 towards France. If you have to travel through the area, it is recommended to use alternative routes such as the N-636, the N-121 A, or the GI-20, but in no case the express route towards France.
