Solsona recovers five ponds from the disused treatment plant and converts them into wetlands

Green-necked ducks, white martinets, gray herons and stream turtles are some of the species that can already be seen in the area of the old ponds of the Solsona treatment plant.

The city council, with the support of the Catalan Water Agency, has naturalized five ponds that were disused and converted them into a type of wetlands. Ferran Fontelles, member of the Solsonès Nature Group, explained that the ponds will help to enrich the biodiversity of the area and also improve the quality of the water, before it returns to the Negre River.

Part of the new space, which has cost more than 50,000 euros, will open to the public from Sunday, coinciding with the activities of the European Mobility Week.
