Sánchez considers "a mistake" Aragonès's move to the King in Mobile

"A mistake", Pedro Sánchez lamented before the new rudeness of Pere Aragonès to Felipe VI, since the president of the Generalitat avoided participating in the formal greeting to the King during the inauguration of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The President of the Government has warned that this international fair is the one with the greatest institutional support in Spain. An "outstanding" support, which he has assured is led by the Monarch.

"It's a mistake," Sánchez reiterated about Aragonès' attitude. "Because the King of Spain has also contributed to the consolidation of Barcelona as the permanent venue for this important congress, which has global significance," said the Chief Executive in an interview on Telecinco on Monday night.

The Catalan capital, thanks to this MWC congress, "today is a reference for this entire industry" of telecommunications in the world. "And I'm not saying it's exclusively, but it's also thanks to the institutional support of the Royal Family and in particular the King of Spain," Sánchez highlighted. Although the President of the Generalitat did not attend the initial formal greeting to Felipe VI, he did have the opportunity after greeting the Monarch.

The Chief Executive took the opportunity to highlight that "one of the things we have achieved during this difficult and complex legislature has been to stabilize the situation and contribute to the necessary coexistence in Catalonia". Sánchez has reiterated that "Catalonia is a very important part of Spain, and making things stabilize in Catalonia, that there is respect for the Constitution and also that coexistence is built, makes the country as a whole better".

Sánchez also referred during this interview, for the first time, to the scandal of the Mediator case in which the former Socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes is allegedly involved, who has already been expelled from the PSOE. The head of the Executive has shown his "absolute condemnation" of the facts that are being investigated. “He is no longer a deputy or a member of the PSOE. We act resoundingly and emphatically, a few hours after this case became known", defended the socialist leader, who has directed the shot against the Popular Party for other cases of alleged corruption that dot it, such as that of the mayoress of Marbella. "There is a forcefulness on our part that I do not see, unfortunately, in the main opposition party," he stressed.

But the head of the Executive has been very upset at the criticism that the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has issued in this regard, pointing directly at him. "I hope that Sánchez has a way to demonstrate that he was never in Tito Berni's business," said the PP leader. "I find it surprising that after what has become known about Mrs. Ayuso, you say these things," Sánchez replied, in a veiled allusion to the contracts signed by the brother of the Madrid president with the regional administration during the pandemic. The denunciation of these possible irregularities ended up causing the removal of Pablo Casado from the PP, and his replacement by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

"The PSOE model is the complete opposite of Mrs. Ayuso's model," Sánchez stressed. "We stop corruption and do not cover it up," he has settled.
