Sánchez and Feijóo will meet tomorrow in the Congress of Deputies

The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the candidate for the presidency, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will meet tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in Congress. The meeting will take place at the request of the popular leader within the framework of the open talks for the investiture.

According to the information released by the PP, the first contact between the two leaders took place yesterday at noon via WhatsApp while the spokesman for the popular, Borja Sémper, announced at a press conference that Núñez Feijóo intended to start the round of talks with a meeting with the leader of the PSOE.

Following this communication, the two leaders agreed that their respective heads of cabinet would be the ones to set the date for the appointment that has finally been confirmed for tomorrow at 10:00 am in Congress.

Although, initially, the socialist party seemed to doubt who Feijóo should be interlocutor at this meeting, Moncloa clarified shortly after that it would be the president himself who would meet with the candidate for the investiture that will be debated on the 26th in Congress.

According to the note released by the popular, "Feijóo already advanced Sánchez during the debate that was held last July that the PP and PSOE should work on a model that would facilitate the investiture of the most voted list. That conviction of the president of the PP still in effect."

It is evident that this is not the point of view of the socialist party, which defends that whoever wins the most support in the parliamentary vote in Congress should govern.

From the PSOE, which has confirmed this meeting, sources close to the leadership have indicated that they trust that "with this meeting the PP will abandon the daily insult to our political party and adopt a more constructive path for the country and the Spanish men and women" .

However, and despite the tone of this note issued this morning, it seems that the PSOE has decided to treat the investiture process entrusted to Núñez Feijóo by the Head of State with the utmost respect and prudence. And in this sense, the fact that it is Pedro Sánchez himself who has decided to be Feijóo's interlocutor is framed, to which is added the fact that, as La Vanguardia advances today, the President of the Government has renounced appearing before the Eurochamber this September to explain the European semester under the Spanish presidency while waiting for the investiture debate to be resolved.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be the first meeting that both leaders have held for almost a year when they unsuccessfully tried to unblock the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary after the resignation of Carlos Lesmes.

Although, as in October of last year, the hopes of both about the possibility of an agreement are nil. Sánchez will not support Feijóo or give him his abstention: "On September 26 and 27, the PP will obtain the same support that it would obtain today and that it obtained a week ago," the PSOE spokesperson, Pilar, has assured in the last hours Happiness.
