The volute is an ornament in the shape of a spiral or snail, which is placed on the capitals. But, skies like this one that we see in this photograph in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos show ornate skies as if they had been sculpted by a great classical artist.
Cirrus clouds are a type of cloud composed of ice crystals and characterized by thin, fine bands accompanied by tufts. Sometimes these volute clouds are so extensive that they are visually indistinguishable from each other, forming a sheet or veil called cirrostratus.
Sometimes, in addition, convection at high altitudes produces another form of cirrus, called cirrocumulus: a pattern of small clouds in the shape of tufts.
I captured this photograph in Sant Celoni, in the Vallès Oriental, on a fully spring day, placid, with clear skies and green fields, mild temperatures, birds singing... And merely decorative clouds.
With the candlelight, these clouds have lit up with beautiful warm colors between the mountains, which are the prelude to the heat that is coming for the next few days.
