Sergi Roberto, on the whistles: "I can understand the anger, but we must be united"

Sergi Roberto, in the background all season, was the unexpected hero in Barça's victory against a bottom-placed Almería that put fear in the Blaugrana's bodies. After hearing whistles from the Montjuïc stands at half-time, the captain gave his team the victory with two goals, the last in the 84th minute.

"It's the first time I've scored two goals. I'm happy to help the team," explained the Reus midfielder at the Movistar microphone, in addition to appreciating the whistles given to them by the fans: "I've also heard applause. I can understand that not be happy, but now we must be more united than ever.

Sergi Roberto would have "preferred a calm match" where Barça would have "dominated" the Andalusians, but he highlighted the importance of the three points. "Right now we need victory. We had to get the points," said the Catalan about the need to break the bad dynamic after losing against Girona and Antwerp and drawing against Valencia.

With one more game, Barça is six points behind the League leader, Girona, and four behind Real Madrid. A draw or a defeat could have caused the Blaugrana to be even further away from the lead when we have not yet reached the end of the first round. "It was an important game so we didn't give up any more," said Roberto.

The youth player also cannot find an explanation for one of the team's great problems: the lack of effectiveness in front of goal. "I wish I knew why we didn't have success. The good thing is that we have chances. Having the players we have, with their quality, the goals will come. We have to keep working," he said.

Sergi Roberto valued the need for players to disconnect and "go with their families" during this Christmas period. "We have a friendly (in Dallas), but the holidays will go well. We hope to start the year on the right foot and for titles to come," concluded the 31-year-old veteran midfielder.
