Spring breaks out in Verdú, in the Urgell region, hand in hand with the impressive flowering of almond trees, a landscape that we can discover on horseback, walking or even attending theatrical activities.

The town is surrounded by a network of old roads. The margin walls that delimit them served to channel the passage of livestock; Today, they arrange hills and small hollows where almond and olive trees, cereals and vineyards are grown.

The landscape of Verdú seduces by its simplicity but above all by the beautiful symmetry of the aligned fruit trees, with the almond trees in bloom strategically arranged, as seen in this report in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

The municipal area of Verdú has an area of 35 square kilometers, most of which is arable except for some steep areas where holm oaks, kermes oaks and some pines grow.

Almond trees bloom much earlier than other fruit trees, which usually wait for the arrival of spring. It can be said that winter is like spring for almond trees. Now, flowering generally occurs around the months of February and March, although it increasingly occurs in mid or late January, as has also happened this year.
