Rapper Takayo Nembhard stabbed to death at Notting Hill carnival

Rapper Takayo Nembhard, 21, has died last night after being stabbed at the Notting Hill carnival. This was confirmed on Tuesday by both the Police and his representative, Chris Patrick.

Nembhard went to the carnival with a sister and some friends "to have a good day", as Patrick explained. However, he adds that this has been "the worst possible ending for a talented child."

The assault occurred in the Ladbroke Grove area. Although the man received emergency first aid from officers, he died shortly after being admitted to a nearby hospital.

The security forces also reported that a total of 209 people were arrested during the carnival -held between Saturday and Monday- for cases of assault and possession of drugs, as well as for disturbing public order.

"Officers at the Met have been working tirelessly over the past few days to ensure that everyone who came to Notting Hill Carnival could enjoy the experience safely," said Officer Alison Heydari, in charge of Met Police. this London neighborhood.

"It was the culmination of months of close coordination with the organisers, our local authority, the emergency services and the community. The mood in the last few days has been mostly positive," Heydari added. "Sadly, on Monday night we saw a series of violent incidents and a 21-year-old man lost his life," she said.

The carnival returned to the streets of Notting Hill for the first time since 2019, after it had to be canceled due to the pandemic. This party, considered the second carnival in the world after Rio de Janeiro, brought together music bands, dances, street food stalls and thousands of people.
