Presidents of the PSOE mark their profile before Sánchez with a view to the elections

The president of Aragon, the socialist Javier Lambán, wields his deep "disagreement" with the criteria approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday to determine the future headquarters of the Space Agency. The Government, in its strategy of decentralization of new State headquarters outside of Madrid, will prioritize in its final choice that the town that aspires to host this Spanish NASA has an international airport and AVE line, in addition to a business ecosystem related to the space industry. All this places Seville as the favorite, which already has a powerful aerospace industry and the aforementioned transport connections, to the detriment of Teruel's candidacy, which is Lambán's bet. The Aragonese president, who recalls that Pedro Sánchez's decentralization plan was intended to "favor depopulated Spain", promises that "he will fight against that decision of the Government" that reduces possibilities for Teruel.

In the Government and the leadership of the PSOE they assume that it is not the first time that Lambán has charged against the positions of Sánchez, with whom he was never in tune, but that it is already "regular political practice". But they admit that this clash is added to those that other socialist regional presidents have already been leading, to mark their own profiles precisely before the imminence of the elections next May in which they opt for re-election.

It all started paradoxically shortly after Sánchez gathered all the autonomous presidents of the PSOE in Zaragoza, on September 17, to capture an image of unity before the new electoral cycle. An act in which Lambán himself, in the role of his host, defended the management of the Prime Minister and assured that he would have the entire party behind him, although he insisted on denouncing his parliamentary alliances with ERC or EH Bildu .

Some "bad company" of Sánchez that was also rejected two days later by another autonomous president of the PSOE, the Castilian-Manchego Emiliano García-Page, who also questioned the pardons given to the leaders of the procés and disagreed with the offensive undertaken against Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Next, it was the Valencian president, Ximo Puig, who marked his own profile before Sánchez, by announcing a deflation of personal income tax for low incomes that collided with the Government's strategy in its crusade against the fiscal battle deployed by the PP.

In Moncloa and Ferraz they call on these presidents not to undertake "lonely wars" for electoral purposes. "When the brand is doing well, we all are doing well," they warn. The PSOE brand, they say, is doing well and growing slightly. "Since July there has been a rebound, which is consolidating," they say. It was when, in the debate on the state of the nation, Sánchez turned the ship to the left with the announcement of a tax on extraordinary profits from banks and energy companies.

"Each community has its idiosyncrasies and each president his profile, and it is normal that there are different profiles," they allege in Ferraz, where Santos Cerdán maintains a dialogue with all the territories "even in discrepancies." “But all of us who stand for election are voted for by the acronym. And if the brand is not good, nobody will do well”, they warn. So they prescribe that "nerves" do not spread between the presidents. “There is no contagion effect from Andalusia – they emphasize, after the absolute majority of the PP that knocked out the PSOE in June – all the socialist presidents are strong”. Although they take it for granted that some will persevere in their strategy: “They play to stand out”.
