Pol Espargaró, MotoGP Gas Gas rider, has been in Barcelona since early this morning, after having been hospitalized in Faro for two days, after the violent accident he suffered in the second free practice session of the Portuguese GP. The Granollers pilot was transferred by medicalized plane and was admitted to the Dexeus university hospital in Barcelona, according to his team.

The Gas Gas pilot, who missed the inaugural Portuguese Grand Prix, was transferred in a medicalized plane, under the supervision of the medical team of Dr. Ángel Charte, and accompanied by his manager and his wife, Carlota.

This coming week he will undergo surgery to fix the various fractures he suffered in the collision with the tire fences at turn 10 of the Portimão circuit.

According to the medical report of Dr. Ángel Charte, MotoGP medical director, Pol Espargaró suffers "mandibular fracture with affectation of the temporo-mandibular joint", a "lung contusion", a "small stable and non-displaced fracture of the 5th cervical vertebra". , and a "fracture of a dorsal vertebra with a large edematous and inflammatory component".

Aleix Espargaró, who on Saturday attributed the multitude of accidents, like his brother's, to the new compressed format on weekends, was excited this morning when he received from a fan a poster with the photo of his brother Pol, which the follower carried to be signed. "The poor guy is not having a very good time, I have seen him very excited all winter with the change of motorcycle, and he did not deserve it. It's the races, it's our life, we have to live with it. I hope he recovers soon. He's back in no time," Aleix Espargaró commented to Dazn TV after the Rider Fan Parade.

The Gas Gas driver will miss at least the races in Argentina (April 2) and Austin (April 16), due to the intervention and the necessary recovery time.
