Gerard Piqué focused all eyes on Barça's last training session before saying goodbye as a professional in front of his fans this Saturday against Almería at the Spotify Camp Nou. Precisely Xavi Hernández's men trained at the Blaugrana fief this Friday and not at the Joan Gamper sports complex, where they usually train.
The reason is because the entire squad took the official photo for the 2022/23 season. For this reason, the president of the Barça club, Joan Laporta, was present on the pitch, who witnessed the first minutes of the session accompanied by the sports vice president, Rafa Yuste, the adviser Enric Masip and the club's director of football, Mateu Alemany.
All of them saw live the traditional warm-up rounds in which Piqué, the protagonist last Thursday with the publication of a video announcing his retirement, participated normally.
In the session, the Danish Andreas Christensen put his left ankle problems behind him and trained at the same pace as his teammates, while Jules Koundé and Eric Garcia, with muscular discomfort, did not take to the pitch. The injured Ronald Araújo, Memphis Depay, Sergi Roberto and Franck Kessie did not train either. Unlike Koundé, Eric Garcia will be in the squad, as will Christensen.
Barça Atlètic footballers Chadi Riad, Marc Casadó, Fabio Blanco and Sergi Rosanas joined the session. Riad and Casadó, as well as Arnau Tenas and Pablo Torre, are part of Xavi's list for the match against Almería.
