On a sunny day with temperatures above 20 degrees on the shores of the Mediterranean, a part of the hotel establishments in the Levante area of Benidorm have decorated their rooms to join the solemn celebration through the television screens from the London Westminster Abbey.

The bars have exchanged football matches and broadcasts of other sports for the pageantry of the coronation and have seen the tables fill up. In statements to EFE, the owner of one of these premises explained that "people go crazy with these acts because the British are very supportive of the Crown and the monarchy."

In addition, the Benidorm City Council has also joined the coronation by broadcasting a congratulatory video dedicated to the new British monarch on its network of screens throughout the city, including the tourist 'tecnohito'.

The mayor of Benidorm, the popular Toni Pérez, has indicated that the city shows "the sincere affection that we feel towards the British people, accompanying them in such an important event as this Saturday", that "thousands and thousands of citizens of the United Kingdom They continue live from our city, where they have not hesitated to travel taking advantage of the 'extra' festive day that they have been granted for the coronation”.

"For many decades, Benidorm has been one of the favorite destinations for British tourism, which is key for us throughout the year", as reflected in the fact that every year 40 percent of those who choose this town for their holidays come from the United Kingdom (representing 80% of the international tourism market).

According to the mayor, "Benidorm is very present and rooted in the collective imagination of the British, who identify our city with happiness."

For these rest days, reservations had increased by 55% compared to the same dates last year. And the hotel management Hosbec recognized this week that for the first half of May in Benidorm the reservation forecast was 78.1%, a percentage in which the celebration of this weekend in London has a special incidence.
