An 84-year-old man died in Aspe (Alicante) as a result of the explosion of a butane cylinder in his home at noon today, and another 55-year-old man suffered burns to 60% of his body and is being transferred. by helicopter to La Fe Hospital in Valencia.
According to the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat (CICU), at 2:40 p.m. an alert was received due to the explosion of a butane cylinder in a home on Pasos de Aspe street.
The CICU has mobilized two SAMU units, a BLS unit and a medical helicopter. The Aspe municipal ambulance has also intervened. An 84-year-old man died as a result of the explosion.
Medical services have stabilized another man, 55 years old, after performing various advanced life support maneuvers. At the time of writing these lines, he is being evacuated in the air SAMU to the La Fe hospital in Valencia, due to second and third degree burns on 60% of the body surface.
In addition, three men have been treated for smoke inhalation. One of them, 26 years old, who tried to help and after being treated, was evacuated to the Elx General Hospital in the municipal ambulance. The other two are local police officers aged 44 and 54 and have taken themselves to the Vinalopó hospital in Elche.
An 82-year-old woman has also been treated for an anxiety crisis, who has been transferred to the Aspe integrated health center.
The Provincial Firefighters Consortium reports that upon the arrival of its troops they found the building vacated, a deceased person and an ambulance attending to an injured person, the 55-year-old man who, according to the information, could be the son of the deceased.
