Nashville officer shot while Reacting to'Installment' 911 Telephone; Imagine dead: Authorities

Officer Brian Sherman's injuries were not life threatening.

Even a Nashville police officer had been shot while responding to a 911 call of a girl shot in a home -- along with the department says it considers that the call was a"setup" from the shooter to get authorities to react.

Officers were fired as soon as they arrived in the home Tuesday evening, police spokesperson Kris Mumford told ABC News.

The guy who supposedly shot Sherman, 22-year-old Salman Mohamed, then went out, authorities said, where officers attempted to negotiate .

Mohamed fatally shot himself in the head with a gun from the driveway, authorities said.

Sherman's injuries were not life threatening and he had been discharged from a hospital immediately, Mumford said.

"We consider whoever made the 911 call was Mohamed himself," police spokesman Don Aaron said in a press conference. "Actually on the 911 telephone, you can hear him saying that he is scared, which shots are ongoing to be dismissed.

"It was a ruse to have the police officers into the scene," Aaron stated.

No officers fired their guns during the episode, authorities said.
