Mortadelo and Filemón already regulate traffic at one of the busiest intersections in Barcelona

This afternoon Barcelona City Council launched the second pair of Mortadelo and Filemón traffic lights in tribute to the creator of the popular comic characters Francisco Ibáñez, who died on July 15. TIA agents regulate one of the intersections with the highest intensity of pedestrian traffic in the entire city, that of Passeig de Gràcia and Ronda Sant Pere, next to Plaza Catalunya, in front of El Corte Inglés, in the Eixample district.

Filemón's silhouette is in charge of the red color, while his partner Mortadelo has been assigned the green of the traffic light.

This is the second installation of these characteristics to debut in Barcelona and the start-up has been expressly made to coincide with the Christmas holidays. The first was inaugurated next to the Gabriel García Márquez library, which houses an editorial collection by Ibáñez, at the intersection of Treball and Concili streets in Trento.

Later, more of the couple's traffic lights will be installed in the Sant Antoni neighborhood, at the intersection of Comte d'Urgelll and Manso streets, and in the neighborhood where the author lived, at the intersection of Gran Via and Bac de Roda.
