In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can contemplate the richness of life in the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, a meeting point for birds and other animals, which make spring a meeting point season.

The birds make these marshes their refuge and resting place. There are more than 300 species, many of them protected. In the second half of April and the first days of May is when they are seen in greater numbers.

Specifically, at least 329 species of birds have been cited, 82 of which nest regularly. Those linked to aquatic environments are the most abundant.

For its part, among mammals, the most typical of the marshes -besides the water rat- is the otter, which was common until the end of the 20th century and which is being reintroduced.

The common weasel is also present; the polecat, very frequent; Badger; the Fox; the genet or the fallow deer, reintroduced in 1987. If you are lucky you can also see the roe deer approaching the water.

Regarding the vegetation, it has some special characteristics that make it very different from the other nearby areas. They alternate rice crops and pastures, of biological and landscape value.
