Marta Rovira warns Junts that the amnesty is not about people and that its challenge should not be facilitated

The Secretary General of ERC, Marta Rovira, has warned that “the amnesty law is not about cases or people” but “tries to forgive acts that the State has considered a crime” and has warned Junts, which has not yet closed the negotiation, that ERC will have to study the changes that Puigdemont's men introduce in the norm to guarantee that it is not arbitrary or ambiguous, which can facilitate its challenge to the Constitutional Court.

While Junts negotiates with the PSOE the details of the agreement that ERC already closed last week with the socialists to facilitate the inauguration of Pedro Sánchez, the republican leader said in an interview on the Cafè d'Idees program on La2 and Ràdio 4 that " "The law amnesties events considered crimes, and these events are acts of defense of independence as a political option," recalled the former deputy, who also added that "we are talking about open cases about events that are an expression of democracy and rights."

"There are no specific and specific laws for specific people, this is prohibited by the legal system itself," said Rovira, who thus responded to the tweet that Puigdemont published last Sunday, accusing ERC of excluding lawfare cases from the Law of amnesty that affects their training, as is the case of Laura Borràs, for partisan purposes.

Despite this, the former Parliament representative has pointed out that ERC respects the Junts negotiation process, although she has recognized that "it would have been more ideal and more opportune" if it had been done "jointly." In the same sense, Rovira has considered that the decision of Puigdemont's party to go to the negotiations separately has created a "very strange relationship of competition" between both parties.

Regarding the distance between pro-independence supporters during the negotiation process, the ERC general secretary trusts that, after Sánchez's investiture, both parties will meet again and resume the personal and political relationship that, in their opinion, they have lost as a consequence of their repression. policy. In this sense, he regretted that Junts did not agree to negotiate Sánchez's investiture with ERC. “It's not about 7 votes, it's about 14,” said the former parliamentarian.

Likewise, Rovira has assured that the Government will not fall “into the trap” of calling elections after the restoration of the functions of the retaliated politicians, and has highlighted that in ERC they trust that “among all the militancy we will choose who should be the people who "They must continue to lead the institutions and the party, who are the best people that we can put at the service of the country."

Regarding the dialogue table, the former deputy has justified the negotiations between ERC and the PSOE by alleging that the meeting of two governments legitimates the representation of both parties, and that the Government has facilitated inclusion mechanisms so that the other pro-independence forces have representation in the negotiations.
